Thimphu Tshechu

The capital’s autumn festival at Tashichho Dzong.

About the festival

The Thimphu Tshechu is held each autumn, usually in September or October, at Tashichho Dzong and its festival ground in the capital. It is one of the busiest festivals of the year, drawing families from across the region in their finest gho and kira.

Over several days, monks and lay dancers perform masked dances, and the festival offers a rare chance to see Bhutanese society gathered together.
